Lovely hotel, great staff - a hotel to be proud of!

Seamless check in. A hotel for guests run by people with customers in mind.
Thoughtful touches that make the difference - small cartons of real milk available, lollypops and general excellent service.

For me your greatest asset is your staff. I had a single night stay and during that time all the staff I came into contact with were a credit to you. From reception (warm and genuine welcome) restaurant staff (attentive, helpful but not fussy) and a cheerful welcome into the breakfast room.
The food was excellent (local produce in evidence) and for breakfast an excellent flavoursome sausage and bacon and passed the poached egg test with flying colours.
First time stay for me and a really good experience.

The hotel had the feel of being cared for and well maitained

Not a dislike but my room was very warm when I checked in and despite opening both windows it took an age to cool down. You might consider making a fan available for the summer months.

Although Room 201 was about the furthest from Reception, we did NOT hear either of the Wedding Parties during our stay.

The cleanliness of the room & the whole Hotel. Everyone was friendly & helpfull, especially the Housekeeper.

when booking a superior room i at least expected to stay in the main hotel. but on arrival i was informed of my room was in the garden house as a rather noisy wedding was in the hotel. as soon as i knew where the annex was i thought hang on this is quite close to a very busy main road. this proved to be the case in the early hours as sleep was impossible after waking at 5. when booking check that you are not in the garden room if you are bring ear plugs !
(99622904)

clean and well facilitated

in the garden house annex next to busy road woken up by traffic at 5 o'clock and unable to sleep after that
Margaret from York, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 15 September 2006
Having read reviews of the hotel which mentioned being able to sit in the garden, I was disappointed that the 'Walled Garden' was a bistro and not a garden!
The bedroom got very warm even with the fan running.

The waiters at breakfast were very friendly and helpful.
The location of the hotel was good for attending the local college (Myerscough).

The shower curtain in the bathroom smelt rather unpleasant.

The room was very well set out and the bed was the most comfortable we have ever slept in when using a hotel. It was nice to be able to wander around the adjoining garden centre in the sunshine soon after arrival.
(3305104803)

This hotel looked impressive as you drove up as the gardens were delightful, in fact the whole establishment, inside and out, was beautifully presented.

The shower head was loose and had to be held up to have a shower, which was a shame because the rest of the bathroom was nicely finished.

Everything was excellent from the pool to the food

The left hand side of the bed lent outwards making you roll to the edge of the bed. My partner and I changed over in the night and she rolled off the bed. As it was only one night it didn't detract from what was an enjoyable stay but more than one night would have been a problem... Oh,it was room 207

Very helpful staff and once upgraded the room was lovely- bright, well decoarted with quality furniture and a nice spacious bathroom. Excellentin room facilities. we had a very good meal in restaurant. All staff very helpful. Unfortunately dinner in the hotel restaurant was fully booked - booking on check in is advisable.

The hotel was excellent and the room only price meant it was superb value for money

My only complaint would be that the hotel, including the room, was very warm. I had difficulty sleeping even though I turned the radiators off and opened the window!

My overall opinion of the stay and hotel was extremely positive especially as the hotel was rather busy with many functions. It would be useful to try to separate more clearly the Garden centre parking from the Hotel parking as this resulted in luggage being moved over a distance whilst Garden centre clients got priority.

The room was clean and smart and functional. Staff were attentive and pleasant without being overpowering.

The single room as rather too small but for the price was value for money.

Whilst it was obvious some refurbishment was underway the work did not detract in any way from the pleasant stay we experienced. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Barton Grange is the type of hotel we favour as being family run and this shows in the comfortable rooms and public areas. The food is excellent and great value. We will certainly use Barton Grange again when we are in the area.

This is an extremely comfortable, welcoming and well run hotel. It has an inviting atmosphere of quiet quality, which is enhanced by the most pleasant team of staff that I have ever met! Not just one or two of them .... all of them! Reception, housekeeping, restaurant, Garden Centre staff...they all had a smile and a genuine concern that guests should enjoy their stay at Barton Grange - and I did, immensely, and I will be back - often!
(2611527)

I was impressed by the comfortable bed and the tasteful decor; the leisure facilities were very good; the Walled Garden restaurant was lovely and the food far too tempting for my own good! The whole hotel looked spotlessly clean and beautifully cared for, and the gardens and the Garden Centre were an absolute joy. What did I like the best of all? - The Staff! Every last one of them had a smile and a friendly, helpful manner.

The only possible improvement I could think of would be air-conditioning. I had a lovely sunny room on a hot weekend...but there was a fan already switched on in the room when I arrived, and a sun blind to cut out the glare.
