ROOMS NEED A MAKEOVER
Eileen from Durham, GB (Young couple) 28 October 2008
The hotel seemed to have a nice buzz to it
(107858161)

I would like to commend the lady on reception on Sat. afternoon around 3.30p.m. as she was able to make her own on the spot decisions and was very helpful, polite and accommodating using common sense approach which is always best. Very unusual in the UK now a days.

I won't go to a Park Inn hotel again unless I'm forced to
(107140868)

Really bad experience. 1 towel for 2 persons for 2 days. Apples offered at receptions had some sticky substance on them. Rooms smelled and over all, for the price I paid, I would have expected a lot more. I've had better service for half the price in a nearby inn at the Services!!

Staff were very helpful and courteous.

Room allocated had no view, was shabby and next to the lift shaft , we were upgraded to better room at no extra cost which helped. Dining: I requested gluten free meals but choice was extremely limited.

Would use again for a conference or shopping trip. Prices were doubled because of a few conferences in the area so would book again at the normal price.
(97456190)

close proximity to railway station, shopping centre, easy to find by car

Room was very warm, not able to open any windows or able to adjust temperature. Bathroom very dated but okay for an overnight stay.
Geoffrey from Llanelli, GB (Group of adult friends) 29 March 2008
we would like to have known more about telford itself as on arrival we were surpised to find that there was no town centre and no places of entertainment ie pubs and restaurants in walking distance of the hotel.
(97449677)

quiet and comfortable with friendly and efficient staff

rain falling on metal windowsills kept us awake most nights
Anonymous (Mature couple) 19 March 2008
When I booked the accommodation I asked for a double room. However when I arrived, late at night and tired, I was informed that the room I thought I booked was not what I was getting. Instead I ended up with a twin room. Allocation on Arrival was not mentioned anywhere on the confirmation that I printed out.
I didn't make arrangements for the kids to be looked after and travel 2.5 hours to sleep in a different bed from my love.
The room allocated was next to the lift and I had to spend the night listening to people saying good night as well as listening to the lift going up and down.
The next day I asked to be moved. Luckily there was some people checking out so I was able to be accomodated in a better room and this time with a double bed.
I think that this needs to be made clear or that if I book a room believeing it to be a double room then that is what I should get. I should not arrive and be told I had to sleep in a twin room.
I would not have booked the room if I had known this in advance.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and it all felt very welcoming.

There is not much control over the air flow. Windows are heavy and huge which means that you can't let a little air in the room, you have to let a lot of air in.

The Hotel in general is friendly and welcoming. The bar area has nice decor and looks modern although it is situated in the main lobby of the Hotel. During peak times, this may cause a logistical problem. The Rooms although clean and well maintained are small. The overall layout of the Hotel is quite poor with a large distance between some of the rooms and the Reception / Bar / Restaurant area.
(99515349)

The Staff were reasonably friendly, bar-staff in particular were prompt and polite.

Rooms were very small, overall Hotel layout was quite poor.

Better value and better experience than staying in private B&B's where the rooms are small there is only a shower and the atmosphere can be a bit old fashioned and sometimes nosey. I liked the privacy friendliness and efficiency of Park Inn.
(99179819)

Big spacious room, big bed big bathroom big bath. Plenty of privacy. Nice atmosphere.

Convenient location for ameneties

Hurried approach especially at dinner in the evening.Person in charge too bussy to acknowledge.Reception staff on arrival obviously is tired of her job because she trets everyone the same.Bathroom appeared well worn.Cheap toiletries.

Hotel is nicely central to areas we were visiting. Nice entrance lobby / bar area. Rest has already been said.
(99250197)

public areas were clean and tidy. Staff helpful and friendly. Swimming pool area untidy and in need of overhaul

our firt room was not fully cleaned. We had to ask for toiletries, robes etc. On second day we had to move rooms as the bed in the first one was completely broken in the middle and was very uncomfortable. Second room was very dusty but bed was far more comfortable. Rooms are shabby.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times to attend the Conference Centre. Very often conferences finish about 9 or 9.30 p.m. and it is extremely difficult to find a place to have an evening meal in the Telford area. Having stayed at another hotel where the dining room closed at 9 p.m. it was impossible to find a place to eat, and we had to wait for the night man to come on duty and prepare us a supper in room service, which we received about midnight. The bar at your hotel is open until 11 p.m. which is very good.

Clean, comfortable and convenient to find
Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 19 February 2007
All in all the hotel was sufficient for my needs, the rooms need updating and most of all painting! I found the breakfast staff a little rude, one of them demanded my room number without greeting me or showing me to a table, I was left to figure the rest out, ie tea and coffee coming from the machines etc. This i found a bit offputting. But overall the staff were helpful and polite, particularly in reception where several small problems were quickly and efficiently ammended. I think that in this day and age of free wi-fi access pretty much everywhere i felt that the charge for the internet was extortionate! For the cost of the room i would have expected it to have been included.

The provision of leisure facilities

The rooms are a bit dated and desperately need repainting - there were lots of marks on the walls and the bathroom was a bit grim, needs a lick of paint all round!
John from Copthorne, United Kingdom;GB (Solo business traveller) 25 January 2007
The hotel is geared to business people staying for short periods; it is fine for that clientele but do not expect anything more. The dinner menu is a bit restrictive but the quality is OK.
(99997048)

A bit old fashioned, could do with a revamp.
Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 28 November 2006
Breakfast on top at that price meant a trip to ASDA on the way to the conference centre which wasn't easy. (they dont open til 8.30 and conference started at 9am). I was disappointed with the lack of vegetables served with my meal. The menu said served with a selection but there was only cabbage (which I thought was onion so didnt try) The rest of my time in the hotel was very comfortable.

Expensive for what it is. I was probably unlucky with the room but it was the poorest sounding proofing between 2 rooms I have ever experinced. I may as well have been sharing.

In general, our stay was fine. However, having booked in January, it takes the mick to be told oh sorry, we've no non-smoking double rooms left. We ended up with a double room in the smoking side, which thankfully didn't smell of smoke, but the attitude on the reception desk was entirely unacceptable.
The only other complaint is the everything costs extra attitude - particularly the breakfasts, and at

I can think of a number of hotels in Telford that offer a better experience than the Park Inn. The only plus point for this hotel is its location.
Wouldn't stay again unless there was no alternative.
