The check-in lady was very blunt and hard headed when I refused to be put in the handicapped room, she said I didn't specify that I don't want a handicapped room which was ridiculous. She refused to change it. The room was dirty and smelly. (99532882)

The hotel is conveniently located for Underground stations, the West End, Notting Hill and London Parks. The room was quiet, although whether one facing the Bayswater Road itself would have been noisier I can not comment. Staff were polite and helpful, and quesries were answered quickly and accurately. The only surprise was that the Bar had run out of Baileys! (99991684)

Another case of the picture in the brochure looked so much better. The website made this hotel seem fabulous but in reality it fell well short of the hotels write up and pictures. I cant see how it got a 4 star rating without a fridge in the room? (3305494608)

Having stayed just the one night, it offered all I needed. Didn't try the restaurant as there were so many in the near vicinity. (3304001153)

negative comments Only one lift working, and being on the 4th floor, found the lift full each time it came down. Finally caught it on the way up.

The Hotel is going through an extensive refurbishment and the helpful and friendly staff compensate for any minor glitches that are connected with the work that is going on. Ask about the redecoration programme when booking. It is nearly complete. (2795679)

It would have been helpful to know that the lifts were STILL being repaired and were out of service, that the air conditioning was STILL poor, that there were only 4 terrestrial TV channels (no news channel) and only 3 music radio services (no news or talk channel) available in room and that car parking charges had been more than doubled in 12 months. I have stayed here for many nights over the last 20 years and this is the worst state I have ever found the hotel. The staff are delightful - they are good people, but are currently let down by an aged hotel that is suffereing from what I guess is under-investment and a slow maintainance programme. Believe it or not I will stay here again. The location of the hotel is very good. I hope that the repair and investment that is taking place will soon be completed. (2686153)

This hotel has a great location, opposite Hyde Park / Kensington Gardens,on central line, near Queensway tube or Notting Hill Gate tube. Gives easy access to South Kensington for museums and Oxford Street for shopping. A black cab from here to the London Palladium was only £8 ( Manoj, a very kind, efficient member of reception staff hailed it for us). The room was super clean and comfy. I was alone with my six year old daughter but felt absolutely safe. My daughter is already planning her next visit:-) Highly recommended ! (2019758)

The previous time I stayed at the hotel I had a very good stay - nice room, breakfast included, this time I had a tiny room, things not working, tiles in bathroom coming off the wall and no breakfast included and paid more for the pleasure. (1940056)

This hotel is very convenient and good value, but urgently needs TLC - wall covering, doors etc all battered by use. Staff OK but overworked - not enough of them, aalways q at reception.Pl get owners to spend some money on it - not much would make big difference. System had been down for 4 days. Earlier visit resulted in Fire alarm at 7.00am, and all guests on street. So calamity prone! (1914204)

No option of continental breakfast was going to be given to me until I said that I was most unhappy about having to pay for a full English having only had cereal and toast. My bill was then discounted. Also why is this facility not available in your room. Also I ordered room service and they forgot to deliver the chips with the meal so I had to ring again and ask for them! (1688458)

I am slightly disabled. The lifts are remarkably slow. I had to wait a long time every time I used them. Between the lifts and my room there was one steep flight of steps, difficult for me to negotiate. When I pulled the curtain to close it against the cold draft coming through the window that wouldn't close the curtain and the curtain rail fell off. When I phoned reception for help I was told there was no-one available so I spent the night with no privacy. (1645018)
