communal areas were well kept, reception staff were generally pleasant and helpful, location was excellent

full price of room was not good value for money (though i didn't pay this rate), room was smoking though not requested, room smelt of stale cigarettes, cleaning staff changed towels though it wasn't required (contradicting instuctions given in room about helping the environment).

I stayed in an 'Executive' double room however, what was executive about it I do not know. It was a normal standard double room to my knowledge but clean and tidy all the same. Fine for a stop over.
(108061686)

Convenience to city centre & Old Trafford Football Stadium.

I had over an hour to wait for my room to be ready and waited in the reception area and nobody came to keep me updated on the situation, so i went to the reception desk to ask how long it would be, to be told it was not ready and i could have another room which was ready,so why didn't they do that in the first place? Toilet tissue very poor quality for the grade of hotel and bed never met with the headboard although, it was comfortable. I also requested my bags be brought to my room because they were in the porter's room and i had waited for 10 plus minutes for them and nobody brought them to me I had to go back down to reception and fetch them myself some 40 minutes later.

The hotel from outside the bedroom could not be faulted but the rooms are in real need of an upgrade

very good, good value and great food in jennys!
(97685214)

jennys food was brilliant. Staff were also great very friendly and helpful and polite. Food was fresh to high standard we had carvery one night and breakfast full english. Mum and i were very pleased and were full up afterwards! great value for money too! The hotel looked great inside and spacious. was a little hard to see from outside as club was promoted more and we walked past hotel several times to find it! but iover all we had a good time. we came up to go to a childcare event over 2 days in the gmex.

the room i had requested was non smoking but on check in we had to settle for smoking room which stank and the whole corridoor too! the room was noisy at night with disco below and there was a glass shutter door missing to block out the sound of the traffic. One of the ligts didnt work either.

It was comfortable and clean. The hotel itself is very beautiful, reminiscent of the old days of luxury decor.Staff were polite and helpful.

The only inconvenience was that because t.v.s were being retuned our own set was not receiving BBC and ITV channels. Not a major problem.
Deepan from Leeds, GB (Solo business traveller) 21 March 2008
Was a pleasnt experience.Though had a bit of bother with getting into the room with the swipe card, which the staff rectified promptly.
Would have liked to have a phone on the floor, since it can be a pain to go down to the reception.

beautiful interior design classic

staff who cannot speak or are not confident enough to approach you in the dining area,Ihad to find my own milk then looking for teabag then hot water. They should approach you at least once during your meal to ask if you need anything.Peaple at breakfast were up and down out of thier seats bumping into eachother looking for basics ie A TEABAG AND HOT WATER.

We were only there for one night but the room was very comfortable, even if dated. Although our check-in process was slow due to the Arctic Monkeys concert all the staff were really friendly. Although our party felt that more staff could have been brought in as they new they were full booked for both the Saturday and Sunday night.
The only other dissappointment was the Pizza restaurant. It seemed really nice when we walked in. However, all of our pizzas were greasy and did not taste really nice. And when we complained the staff became rude towards us, although they did take off the itams from our bill which were not satisfactory.
Overall we had a lovely stay and would go back again, as the hotel is in a great location for Manchester.
(97548818)

The room was a nice size. The bed was very comfortable. The room and bathroom were really clean.

The room was a little dated in its decor.

Russell from Maidstone, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 21 November 2006
Overall the accomodation was fair, but did not live up to the room price paid. We could not find where our car was stored for the valet parking service.
Bar service was extremely slow following the requirement to change a barrel as there was only one member of staff serving who was unable to attract attention for assistance.
(3304601546)

Ornate period decor, general ambience.

Room window would not close due to poor maintenance to window frame, I was able to move the whole frame/window when attempting to close the window, resulting in a draft.

Nice exterior setting and interior with chandelier etc is very attractive

Booking a room with a window doesn't usually mean a view of an office block! The wallpaper was peeling, the bed was very uncomfortable and the room was only cleaned to a minimal degree.

it was clean and tidy and had everything we needed.

the room was a budget room that had no window. It was very hot and we struggled to get to sleep because of this. there was a control for the heating but even when it was on cold there was still warm air blowing in the room.
When we first arrived and got our key it didnt work and we had to go out leaving the with the key to the room.

The hotel is 150 years old, and very elegant.

Not the most modern amenities in the room. The carpet was held down with duct tape in a couple of places. High speed Internet and some entertainment options (movies on demand, etc.) would be great improvements!
