A slightly faded gem but still a great place to stay. Bedroom was in need of a little sympathetic modernisation. Wonderful view of canal - but that does cost extra.

Lovely old fashioned decor, friendly staff, great location

A little cramped but that's to be expected in Amsterdam. Mini bar had only water.

Older style hotel that has a good feel to it

Very happy indeed with my experience

The hotel was fantastically welcoming, beautifully designed, lots of little extras that make it all the more enjoyable (free coffee/hot chocolate machine and fine fruit teas in silk bags in the reception area).Very central and friendly staff.

I was in a recently decorated room which was a lot nicer than my colegues room.

One of the best city hotel I ever stayed in. Very good value for money
(97350995)

Everything excellent. Central location, by a canal. Old style hotel, nicely decorated, very cosy and perfectly maintained. Efficient and friendly staff. Felt like in a family hotel but very professionally and efficiently run. Beautiful breakfast with 1st class products, worth the (high) price asked for.

Noisy building works are currently running in the backyards. No fault of the hotel but if you want to sleep late, ask for a room in the front.
If coming by car, be aware of parking fees in central Amsterdam: 4,60€/hour, until midnight !
Nick from Cambourne, GB (Young couple) 18 December 2007
It was a nice room but a bit on the small side, and didn't seem as nice as it did in the picture. Otherwise the hotel is fantastic and the staff were very helpful, which more than made up for it. The hotel is well located for walking to most things central, and close to Dam Square for trams to everywhere else.
(97283681)

There was a very nice seating area with complimentary drinks and nothing seemed like too much trouble for the staff. The location was great for exploring central amsterdam.

The double room had 2 single beds put together. It may have been easily sorted out by the hotel but i didn't ask. The view from the room was of a tiny courtyard, 4 floors below.

Enjoyable stay overall. Hotel was clean and downstairs very nicely decorated. Location good - not far from main areas and nice view of the canal. Room size and soundproofing were my only areas of dissatisfaction.

Centrally located, very clean. Foyer very nice.

Room was very small. Three rooms close together at the end of the corridor so you could hear people talking in the other rooms.

The room was very comfortable. Shame we didn't have the facility to make hot drinks in the room - but the complimentary hot refreshments in reception was excellent.

The airconditioning didn't work - the room was far too hot and uncomfortable over night. Asa result my partner had a very bad & disturbed night's sleep. Also the 'sequence' of lights to get the bathroom to work without illuminating the rest of the accommodation was rather confusing and annoying to say the least.
NEIL from Aberdeen, GB (Young couple) 25 June 2007
The hotel was clean and well organised. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful-nothing was too much bother for them, they gave us an umbrella when the heavens opened and there was a gift from them in our room which was much appreciated. It was very central and we managed to find our way around no bother. I would only like to say that the 4 poster bed had a few screws loose and could have done with tightening up as it was very squeaky! We will come back and we have recommended this lovely hotel to family and friends.

The kindness and helpfulness of all the staff-they updraded our room at no extra cost as it was our silver anniversary!Hotel was beautiful

Excellent can say no more. Hotel quite luxurious.

Impressed with all aspects. Location good for city break.

Would have liked tea and coffee facilities in room (as elderly mother with me) but facilities downstairs were excellent.
Barbara from Warrington, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 03 April 2007
Difficult to fault the Estherea. The welcome, standard of cleanliness, comfort, free tea and coffee in the lounge made for a very pleasant stay. More choice for the cooked breakfast would have been nice but this was a minor point.
(99381921)

Friendly, helpful staff. Very comfortable bed. Very clean

The wallpaper!! Rather limited choice of cooked breakfast

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment and although our room wasn't finished, our friends rooms were, and they were fantastic. We weren't disturbed at all by the renovations. The hotel is in a quiet but central location and the staff were very friendly and efficient.I would stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Great central location in a more tranquil part of amsterdam. Easy walk to interesting shops, museums, tram stops, Dam Square.
Very good public areas to sit and have a complimentary tea or coffee at any time during the day.

A fabulous hotel, beautifully decorated in a C17th style. some excellent staff, some average. Lovelly to have free tea, coffee and chocolate whenever you want them. Very handspot, less than 10mins from all of the attractions! Nice that they put a local recomendation sheet in your room highlighting nice places to eat which are close by.
(99527090)

Beautiful decorated in the public areas (lounge etc.) Free tea, Coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits 24X7 was a nice touch. Lots of papers/books to read in the library.

We couldnt get a taxi to the place from the station as it was apparently too close. However it was over 2km and it was raining, we were carrying cases.
JAMES from Bradford, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 14 November 2006
We arrived at 10.30am and a room was found immediately overlooking the canal. We were told the room was small, but when we entered it was more than adequate and view was fantastic. The complimentary tea and coffe aswell as fruit in the lounge was a great idea. Staff were courteus and friendly. We usually come to Amsterdam a couple of times a year and it was our first visit to this hotel and we cannot wait to return. The Hotel is a credit to its owners and truly deserves the 4 star rating.

Would have liked coffee making facilities in the room.
