A pleasant stay but the staff service could be improved.
(107169127)

The food was good and the room was spacious, the staff were all polite. The locations was rural and peaceful.

the room was very dark and the service provided by the staff left a little to be desired. The restaurant obviously is trying to be quite upmarket, but the waiting staff were not to the same standard (lots of rushing arround our table, several different waitresses who did not seem clear about how to do things). Although we booked it was not clear on arriving in the restaturant what we were supposed to be doing. Also the pricing on the set menu was not clear.
kevin from Stafford, GB (Mature couple) 07 August 2008
Enjoyed our stay, easy-going, non complaining types, but could have been so much better, shabbiness no problem, but things broken or not working is. Restaurant is all revamped and new as is decking area lovely so is obviously work in progress, would like to go back when complete. However, could do with one or two simpler things on menu.

Excellent location, beautifully clean, staff very friendly and helpful

In need of refurbishment upstairs, dressing table stool about to collapse, very cheap kettle took an age to boil and inadequate milk. Rest of food was excellent, but surprised breakfast sausage was raw in the middle. For new part of building, bedroom floors extremely squeaky and could hear next door all the time - as no doubt they could hear us.

A pretty hotel, under redecoration at the moment, would not recommend to senior citizens as no lift and steep stairs.
(108023981)

Staff tried to please

Booked for 3 pax, room was for 4, one room was shut off, told it had been wrecked the night before. Towels only for 2 pax, and no phone - told it had been stolen!!!

Will definately make return visit in August or September this year. Have highly recommend to our friends.

Warm friendly welcome, talented Head Chef producing excellent cuisine at very reasonable prices, very spacious room with superb views, Staff were professional, caring and friendly. We were able to take our dog with us.

Difficult to think of any. TV remote was failing.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 12 July 2008
Very disapointing. The only saving grace to the whole experience was the very friendly staff.
(108046873)

Staff very pleasant. Excellent breakfast using good quality ingredients.Clean linen and towels.

Delux room was in a terrible state of repair for the tariff we paid. There was no shower. I was expected to wash my hair kneeling down over the very aged sunken bath. There was wall paper peeling of the walls. Old scratched and stained furniture. Bent bed canopy.Threadbare carpet.

The staff were very helpful and attentive, they exceeded our expectations and nothing was too much trouble for them. The evening meal was excellent value and the breakfast was a real belt buster!!!! A real bonus for us was being able to bring `Blossom' our westie away with us which really added to our enjoyment of the stay.

The bedroom did appear to look tired and the bathroom could do with updating and a shower installed instead of a bath. The dead stuffed animals were a bit off-putting but I guess this has to be expected if you are staying in the country

This hotel is smack bang in the middle of some beautiful countryside and easily accessible too. There are no shops or pubs in the village so if you fancy a drink you're restricted to the hotel's bar. Thankfully, the bar is really nice. Perfect for walkers, I'll certainly be packing my boots next time. All in all, one of the most relaxing hotel stays I've had in a place with lots of character.
(97534192)

The hotel had so much character, not to mention beautiful views. The food was really nice and the staff were helpful and polite. I'd reccomend the duluxe rooms as the spar baths are great!

A touch on the expensive side for what is a fairly old style hotel, but it's the character and the views you pay for.

The only excellent features of this hotel are the views and the quality of the cuisine.
Quality accommodation would make for a pleasurable experience and repeat bookings.
(3305141551)

The food was the only redeeming feature of this hotel

The room was small, the beds in need of replacement and the en-suite needs a total upgrade.( room 18 ) For value for money we have stayed in better B & B's for less money.

The air of friendly relaxation created by the staff (in spite of their being busy) was lovely. It was wonderful to be able to relax in the hotel without feeling any pressure, and we felt as though our individual needs were met with ease. The beautiful countryside setting added to a welcoming stay. Thank you.
(3304741634)

The character of the building, not ultra modern, but full of charm. The friendliness of the owners was excellent and not intrusive.

The back staircase was a much quicker route to our room, it was wide and it was a shame that it was not cleaned and decorated with the intent of visitors using it.

The views and location.

Over priced accommodation. Dated decoration and furnishings which did not complement the Inn. Shabby in places particularly the carpets. The water was too hot, my wife burnt her hand and although we complained to the owner no action was taken.

Dieter from Dudley, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 05 July 2006
The first impression of the hotel, after you finally found it, was not too encouraging but the friendliness of the staff, the large room with a fantastic view over the valley and the most unusual bathroom with a rich Victorian flower decoration all over the toilet and the washbasin made quickly up for it. The food in the restaurant was cooked to perfection, the wine list was very reasonable and the breakfast was more than adequate. The only thing what spoilt the weekend was England loosing against Portugal.
(3304954906)

Very nice, unusual decorated room with whirl bath. Excellent views over the Ceiriog Valley

A larger television set as I had to watch the England match in the bedroom as they did not show it in the bar

I found the Hotel welcoming, with very friendly staff. It has a quaint olde worlde charm that made a refreshing change from a modern hotel chain. The food was absolutely excellent and the presentation was also spot on. It was also nice to have plenty of coffee and tea supplies in the rooms all to often hotels only provid enough for one cup per guest two at most.

The Hotel has some of the most breathtaking views I have ever woken up to
