We attended a family party at the pub and decided to stay rather than drive back home to Surrey on the Sunday night. We would certainly recommend the New Flying Horse, Wye and would stay there again. (107134262)

positive comments Charming old fashioned pub/hotel but with high quality, comfortable facilities and unusual layout of bedroom. Good choices and quality breakfasts.
negative comments Only (small) negative we could think of was, as bedroom windows were not double galzed one could hear the traffic in the morning.

Excellent. (97229566)

positive comments The young dark-haired lady who greeted us at reception and served at dinner was exceptional. Bright, intelligent, helpful, energetic, charming and a real credit to the hotel. We could not fault the room but did notice that there was no double-glazing which might have an effect in the winter, but did not matter at this time of year. We also had an excellent evening meal and the breakfast was good. It was also a huge help to be able to leave the car in the car park whilst on a short break to Paris via Eurostar. We certainly would, and indeed hope to, stay again.

We did not know the location of the hotel, which turned out to be a little difficult transportation wise. However, the other positive aspects outweighed this, and the small town of Wye was delightful. We went to the region to visit two major Gardens, The transportation at first seemed difficult, but with the help of the hotel owner turned out to be not much of a problem. (97156935)

positive comments Manager/Owner was extremely helpful in providing us transportation information.Staff was also very accomodating making our stay more personal than an average hotel. Also, the physical layout was unique, not like an average hotel.
negative comments Room was a litle small, but clean.

In summary: friendly staff, reasonable prices, good food, excellent beer, good rooms. The New Flying Horse is only 20 minutes from the M20 and 35-40 minutes during the rush hour from the Chunnel so is ideally placed to break a journey abroad. The one thing you need to know is that you are staying in very good quality rooms in a pub - three of these are in a stable block next to the car park which means that closing time will be accompanied by just audible 'goodbye' conversations and door closing. You just need to make sure you're up for a late-ish night! Infinitely more personality than a chain hotel. (97468812)

positive comments The staff were excellent; friendly intelligent and quite unlike the normal antiseptic staff in a chain hotel.

Our stay at the hotel was only overnight whilst on our way to Paris, via the Eurostar from Ashford International. The staff were pleasant, helpful and gave a good service. The food was excellant and matched the service. If we stayed in the area again it would be our first choice. (99968684)

positive comments The spacious room and bathroom facilties. The bar lady/morning waitress and the barman looked after us very well. (He now knows how to make a 'Sicilian Kiss').

The inn was very homely and the owners very friendly. Accommodation was very good and clean. We had a meal in the inn which was very good and all home cooked as was the breakfast which was excellent. Location also convenient as it is only a short drive to the Eurostar terminal. (99997047)

positive comments Renovated to a high standard and very welcoming. The gardens were beautiful.

I had a fantastic overnight stay, the room was superb (except I kept forgetting about the low beams, even with all the warning signage)the bathroom and shower were great. I can't comment on the breakfast as the bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of it, and thus missed breakfast. (99039577)

positive comments The shower and bathroom facilities were fantastic, it was very clean and the shower was very powerful.

Our stay (2 mature couples) booked an overnight stay on our way to the channel crossing (eurotunnel). the hotel was very welcoming and we had an excellent meal upon arrival with good cask ales and wines for the ladies. The rooms were to a very high standard, very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was as the evening meal, excellent, the staff were only too willing to help and tend to our needs. I cannot say anything bad about the place, would recommend to all who value value for money and comfort. (99865359)

Although the hotel is located in a pretty rural village it is close to major roards and is therefore ideal for touring the area. The hotel is a quaint old building which is tastefully decorated. The bar and restaurant has a cosy feel to it and the log fires are particularly welcoming. The food is fairly simple but well prepared and good value for money. The pub also has a good selection of real ales and wines. The room was very nice; the bed being very comfortable and the bathroom spotlessly clean. Overall, excellent value for money. (99983212)

positive comments Cosy atmosphere

The bedroom was fabulous - spacious, airy, good decor and furniture, well fitted bathroom - modern with an old world feel. The bar/restaurant is nice and informal, friendly staff, great food, nice fireplace and very relaxing. Overall - a great hideaway for a night away from central London and within an hours drive (just). (99073708)

positive comments the bedroom was fabulous.

We had an excellent time - The evening meals and breakfast were very good. The village was pretty and close to places that interested us. The staff and the locals were very friendly, which added to our enjoyment. (3304238277)

positive comments The burning log fire and friendly welcome. The room was very clean and tastefully furbished.
negative comments We felt the walkers did not give the hotel consideration e.g muddy boot's and clothing etc.

We have stayed at this hotel several times before and were very impressed with the sympathetic refurbishment in the bars and restaurant area and the very much improved accommodation. It was noticeable how empty the no smoking bar was. (3304341649)

positive comments Attractive decor, comfortable bed, brand new bathroom.
negative comments The noisy central heating/hot water system.

Excellent, and I would be more than happy to recommend The New Flying Horse to anyone (and I do work in Hotel management). (2859821)

positive comments Very clean and tidy. Welcoming and friendly staff. Food superb with a great choice on both menu and wine list.
negative comments We had Room 5. A super room - but both of us are smalland in our 50's, so we found a little bit of a problem stepping into the bath/shower.
Excellent
David from Darwen, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 28 October 2005

Situated in the attractive village of Wye the new flying horse is unprepossessing on the outside but attractive and cosy inside. Staff were effecient and pleasant without being obsequious. Our double room was just right, a good size, well and tastfully furnished and equipped with an excellent en-suite. The beer and wine were good and not over priced. The menu wasn't huge but there was a good vegetarian selection and the quality and presentation of the food was really good (2682344)

positive comments Comfortable room with all modern facilities without being overcrowded. Excellent decent sized en-suite with good easily controlled shower appreciated. Ability to render the room really dark for sleep with the combination of blinds and curtains also good
negative comments Very few but fresh milk in our room for our tea and earl gray tea bags would have left us without any suggestions for improvement

This Inn was one of many that we stayed in while in England for 10 days. The accomodations were excellent - clean, updated bathroom; nice bed with comfortable, updated bed linens and furniture. Plenty of parking and nice pub with good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. (2628537)

positive comments Nice, updated bathroom, comfortable, large bed. Restaurant had good food and the help was accomodating.
negative comments Obtain wireless internet so we could contact our office back in the US. Recommendations for places to go at night, or shop during the day. We found the city on our map but had a hard time finding the small street Inn was located; a small detailed map of city would of been a lot of help.

I would have liked to know that , the Hotel was under going refurbishment. That the food menu would be limited. That you would not be able to get service at breakfast on the Saturday ,as most of the Village People and Dogs would be in the only room open, at 7.30am onwards to watch Rugby, and that you would have to endure a crowd of people cheering and , moaning when you finaly got served. That on arrival 16.30 aprox you could not get a drink of any sort.We were told that hours were from 17.30. On the Saturday beer was served while we tried to get Breackfast! (2477000)

positive comments Good site /location, very nice room . Good parking . Nice grounds.Pub' enviroment.Pleasant staff.
negative comments Food, the hotel did seem to have a number of people book for meals but, so does a beefeater! The only difference between two , competely different starters(fish and fried cheese) ,was a slice of lemon .The main course was served with even less imagination , if that was possible.

positive comments Good breakfast nice staff good evening meal.
