we booked to stay at the fullerton arms based on location and facilities but on arrval we were moved to an alternative location as we were staying only 2 nights and another guest was staying longer.Although the alternative location was really great it involved us being driven to and from the fullerton arms approx 3 miles for our evening meal and drinks. We thought that we should have been informed of this change before we arrived at the hotel. This is why I have been unable to answer the above questions.

Would not recommend. It is very expensive and very very low key. Poor fabric of fixtures and fittings as well as, for instance, towels. This was our worst stay in Ireland. I have stayed at far better Youth Hostels in the distant past.

clean; good location

uncomfortable beds and pillows, towels small and very tatty, frayed edges; several lights not working in room; general disrepair of room (though clean)
smell of kitchens (chip fat)in hotel
very poor value

Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Handy to visit sights on Antrim Coast.

Entertainment from bar was very noisy when retiring to room. Although I enjoyed breakfast my son would have preferred a children's cereal or croissants.

Informal relaxed atmosphere. Friendly obliging staff. Pub had a good mix of tourists and locals. Live music in the bar on Saturday and Sunday, which we endjoyed. Food in bar and restaurant was standard fare, but it was good and reflected the type of accommodation.
(97430246)

Location and atmosphere.

Would have liked some fruit and yogurt at breakfast.
Sandra from Downpatrick, GB (Mature couple) 26 September 2007
The staff were excellent. They could not have been more helpful and I must stress that they even made a trip to nearby Ballycastle to ensure that my needs were met.
Customer Service is not a department...it is an attitude.
They certainly have it at the Fullerton Arms.
I would go again and recommend it to anyone.
(97888155)

The accommodation was clean and tidy. The bedroom was a good size and pleasantly decorated. It was more than adequate for a short stay.

The only negative for me was that there was no Internet access. But I stress that is a personal requisite...my husband was glad that it was absent.
michael from omagh, GB (Young couple) 26 September 2007
a small town hotel that seems to serve up good hearty food mainly for locals, i would have liked a bit more class, IE. like the Royal court hotel down the road for a few pounds more.

dining room food was excellent

dated room with squeaky floorboards, old TV without remote control
Robert from Manchester, GB (Group of work colleagues) 31 July 2007
Warm welcome and excellent, clean facilities. The food was fresh and homemade and was great value and we only ate from the bar and not the restaurant attached.
Location was quiet and overlooked the sea. Entertainment at the bar was good we had a splendid night.

Our expectations and demands were not particularly high, but we were initially disappointed that the room had no window. The room was spacious and had a TV,though we did not use it. We felt that the room could have been better cleaned. The floor did not seem to have been swept and the rubbish bin had not been emptied from the previous occupants. The cost was higher than we paid elsewhere for better facilities.
(99383571)

It met our requirements of two beds and a bathroom. The location was important in a village with the opportunity to eat and drink in a restaurant or pub without having to drive.

The room was at the top of the building and had no windows (only a skylight)

Overall, this accomodation seemed very overpriced and it was not better than other, cheaper, accomodation in the area.

When we asked for our radiator to be fixed this was done promptly. The breakfast was reasonable.

It was in an isolated position and the facilities seemed very poor for the cost.

The room was not clean, the kitchen is badly isolated from the room area, so one is constantly immersed in the smell of fried stuff while in the room. The breakfast was very greasy. This kind of service does not justify the price.

Sheila from Nelson, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 30 June 2006
There was nothing that disappointed me really. I had no pre conceived ideas about the accomodation ans therefore as long as it was reasonable and clean, I was going to be happy. I had nothing to compare it with in Northern Ireland, but after the Fullerton Arms we travelled to Southern Ireland and stayed in five B & Bs there. It would be fair to say that they were of a much higher standard in terms of quality of fittings & furnishings, but to balance this out, I liked the idea of only having to walk downstairs to the bar and restaurant. That, to me, was more important than the quality of sleeping accomodation. The Fullerton Arms was comfortable, clean and more than adequate for any traveller.
(3304197140)

Firstly, it was above a Pub which was excellent at evening time both for eating and enjoying a drink, especially in a quiet place. The food and service was excellent and the room was comfortable and roomy. The hotel was in a good position for local walking and tourist spots. It was also easy to find and within a reasonable distance of the ferry port (Larne)

Nothing really.

Well situated for all local tourist attractions and good parking. The rooms are clean and well equiped, but the TV didnt work very well we found our stay good and we were well looked after by the staff.

The bar was cold all day I think the heating could of been on a little longer, anyone coming in to the place would not stay long because of this. but if they did stay they would find a warm welcome from the owners and staff.

Good pub accommodation. A useful place to find away from the seaside bustle of Ballycastle. Useful base for exploring Antrim coast, Bushmills Distillery, Giants Causeway, the rope bridge and Rathlin Island. Ballintoy church and quaint harbour are must sees.
