Stavro from London, GB (Young couple) 04 November 2008
I was expecting a lot more for the price so was generally disappointed.
(107732806)

Thai restaurant was good as were the leisure facilities and the staff

The room was OK but no better than I would expect in a Travel Lodge and there was no prior indication that it would be in a modern extension of the hotel.
Breakfast on Sunday morning was a shambles with guests having to wait for tables to become available

very nice stay, beautiful hotel, helpful and polite staff.
(108026546)

Perfect location, beautiful hotel, nice, helpful and polite staff, good restaurants.
Great swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Free transfer to the train station.

Room a bit too hot, no air conditioning, pricey.
Anonymous (Young couple) 18 July 2008
Would stay at this hotel again in the future and would recommend it to others.
(108030727)

Very friendly staff. Excellent general service. Good food. Spa.

Pick up didn't meet us at the station. Rooms in the modern wing of the hotel are a little dated and would benefit from re-decoration.

Good value

Staff were very attentive and the food in the main restaurant was excellent

It seemed a long way from reception to get to the bedroom and the car park.

Friendly helpful staff, beautiful setting, good food, comfortable rooms.

Our children, 7 and 10, are well behaved and used to staying in hotels. They were not allowed in the swimming pool, or in the main restaurants which we were told about beforehand. What was really surprising was that we were sat in the far corner for breakfast out of sight, like second class citizens, next to two other families with children.

We enjoyed our stay. The gardens were pleasant to sit in and well maintained. It was lovely to have the opportunity to use an indoor swimming pool but the water was rather cold during our stay. The staff were, without exception most helpful and always pleasant. Selection of breakfast food was very good but on occasions the cooked food was not hot. The main restaurant was very much overpriced and not good value for money. However, the Blaireau Brasserie and the Thai restaurant provided good food at a reasonable cost.

The staff were always helpful and pleasant. Thai restaurant and the Blaireau Brasserie were both good value and provided good food.

The Main Restaurant was overpriced and not good value for money.
The room was somewhat basic and could have been bigger.
Room was basic - could have been larger.

Good location, excellent facilities, friendly staff. Enjoyable weekend break. Only negative was that the bedroom (in the garden wing)was very warm and we had to have the windows open during the night (this was without the weather being hot)

Swimming pool/sauna etc facilities

The overall experience was good and I would generally recommend the hotel to people without families. However, the hotel web page says 'children are more than welcome' but when you arrive for check-in they make it clear that there are to be no children in the pool area and no children in the better restaurant. This should have been made clear on the web site because the big selling points for us were the restaurant and pool, which we found out on arrival we would not be able to use with our 2-year-old.

Our stay at Careys Hotel was very much enjoyed. The service was second to none and the light entertainment, such as the Thai Dancer in th Sen Resturaunt, and Pianist in the Manor Resturaunt was a delight.
Staff were very friendly and enjoyable. The Senspa, a relaxing and welcoming place with excellent service and skilled therapists.
I have already started to recommened Careys to others in need of a break to refresh, renew and recharge their batteries!

Clean, well presented, within easy reach of facilities.

Would like the bedside lamps to have had a dimmer function

Excellent accommodation set in beautiful surroundings. Staff friendly and attentive. This being our first stay in a spa type hotel we felt somewhat reserved about using the spa facilities and booking treatments, however once visiting the spa shop the lady there was very helpful and I am sure on our next visit we will make full use of the facilities.

A very efficient service by very friendly, helpful staff. The Garden Room was lovely with own patio area overlooking a lovely garden and water feature - a very peaceful setting. The room contained a lot of helpful and useful information about the area.
We also had a meal in the Blairs Restaurant and this too was very good.
We would certainly stay again.

Only a minor problem, the basin plug-hole took a while to empty.

As we arrived late in the day the shop was closed. It would have been very good had the reception been able to pop in and get us a couple of swimsuits which we had forgotten to pack.

stuart from leamington spa, GB (Solo business traveller) 15 July 2007
Excellent location, friendly helpful staff, gorgeous surroundings and peaceful. Fantastic Spa but could be a little bit more accessible to the business traveller who could benefit from the massage jets of the hydroponics facility.
Excellent choice of menus and the food and staff in the Thai restaurant were second to none.
Main restaurant could benefit from offering more than the set 3 courses. I only have 2 courses max and didn
(97409543)

Balcony was a good touch, very chilled after a session in the spa, bed was extremely comfortable and great food choice with 3 restaurants !!

not being able to experience the hydroponic room or the rest and relaxation room as a paying guest... seemed a bit too exclusive, but the normal facilities were good anyway.
Jonathan from Kidlington, GB (Mature couple) 15 July 2007
We would be happy to return to this hotel in the future when visiting the New Forest.
(97660513)

Good standard for price paid. Excellent breakfast buffet. Friendly & helpful staff.

Failure to replenish Tea/Coffee supplies. Folding up wet towels and placing back on towel rack - It seems that if we had required fresh towels, the old ones should have been placed in the bath - somewhat unusual. However given this mistake on our part, they should have been allowed to dry before being folded up.

Peaceful, relaxing stay in one of the best area's of the New Forest. Balcony room overlooking lovely gardens, included facilities and service very good, room and corridors a tad on the warm side. Hotel combines new with old traditional and a hint of Thai very well. Extra treatments, meals & beverages on a par with London - Very pricey!
Would liked to have stayed longer.

Cleanliness, facilities, grounds, staff & service all a very high standard.

The hotel was much better than we anticipated and the spa treatments and rooms were excellent. There was a little mix up over my name but the hotel coped with this well.
(99845554)

There was a slight mix up over my name when we arrived as you had registered me as Ronald Henry when my name is in fact Ronald Henry Lane. The hotel did not sort this out immendiately because we arrived at 11-30pm rather than 8-00pm due to bad road conditions. However, we were given a top room and the correct room the following morning.

Nothing, it was all excellent.

The hotel is convenient for Southampton Airport and yet within rural environs. Access to the motorway is quick.
The hotel has a mix of the old and the new which blends well together. The choice of dining experience and excellent food provided the variety we were looking for during a limited timed stay.

Food was very good, but as usual in most hotel restaurants of a very small quantity & along with the drinks very overpriced -
(3305228344)

Good standard of decor and comfort in the rooms. Nice leisure centre.

Extremely hot room and a claustrophobic atmosphere. The hotel has no real grounds and has a horrible looking college behind it. Overpriced in general & even thought the leisure centre is great - too much of it at an extra charge, i.e. Hydrotherapy pools.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 12 August 2006
When we booked in the receptionist did not understand us very well. I am not sure of her nationality. It took her some time to organise our room keys.
The service at breakfast was not ideal. Quite slow. We got to breakfast about 9.30 am. It took our waiter over 20 minutes to bring our toast, on the first morning; a little better on the 2nd morning. Again, our waiter was not English and had difficulty understanding our orders for coffee and tea + white and brown toast.
Not completely satisfactory, but the food was delicious and the dining room was very pleasant. The waiters were courteous and cleanly dressed. My sister's accommodation did not have a mini bar facility, as our room, although the price for the 2 rooms were the same.
