Having not been in the Belfast area for several years and sceptical about "bed and breakfast" accommodation I was delighted with all facets of my stay and I have already recommended Rayanne House to others. Lovely people, great venue and overall value for money. (107251004)

positive comments Friendly and professional welcome. Spacious, comfortable and well appointed rooms. Well maintained internal, external accommodation and grounds. The family ethos shone throughout my stay in all interactions with the staff. Fantastic breakfast!!!! In all of my international travels and stays in international hotel chains spanning 20 years plus I have never encountered such a comprehensive gourmet delight at breakfast time. Cooked to order and served hot. A delight to all of my senses.

A positive stay with uncomplicated registration, good parking, sensible security and meal timings and staff who were attentive without being overly solicitous. The setting is splendid and the local information was helpful - taxi drivers, car hire firm and the local information office (Bangor) all knew the whereabouts of the hotel. Dining facilities and sitting room were particularly impressive and added to the relaxed atmosphere. (97482188)

positive comments Established country house atmosphere and elegant furnishings with good service and facilities in an accessible location
negative comments Nothing really, though I would have liked a desk in my room or the hotel for occasional computer or paperwork.

We really enjoyed the stay and would willingly book the hotel again, The rooms itself made the weekened break. The staff were very helpful and the hotel was so well appointed. A little too expensive other than for a weekend break taken over all. but as a couple weould willingly stay here again. (97928217)

positive comments The room had a brilliant view was of a very very high standard everything you could want was in the room.
negative comments The breakfast menu was alittle too fancy at times.

The accommodation was spacious, extremely clean and well decorated. Breakfast was cooked to order with a great deal of choice. Staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful. I liked the way we wre welcomed to the hotel, and that we were made to fell welcome unlike in bigger hotel chains. (97540564)

positive comments The fact that it was roomy,on the top floor with views to the sea, the traditional furnishings. The variety of soft drinks available in the room.

Ian from Connah's Quay, United Kingdom;GB (Mature couple) 17 July 2006

Lovely setting close enough to local shops and only a short drive to the city. At the present time July 06, there are some building works being carried out and parking could be difficult while the guest house is full. This is more than overcome by the way we were looked after and the wonderful breakfasts provided. (3304973762)

positive comments The welcome was very friendly, helpful staff, nice large room, and excellent food
negative comments Nothing

Mike from Maynooth, Ireland;IE (Group of adult friends) 16 June 2006

I read the reviews about 'The Rayanne' before I booked over the internet. Some people disliked the decor- said it was dated or too fussy. Personally, I like the decor. It's floral theme, based around roses, was different and I think the toiletries offered in the bathroom, although very feminine, were set to pamper the individual. (Nice touch) Overall, I was only interested in two thing- BED & BREAKFAST. The bed was too small (double), however, this is common around Ireland. I'm used to a larger bed and didn't get the most comfortable of sleeps. The breakfast, on the other hand, was excellent. I had the chilled porridge and potato cakes and the chefs really excelled themselves. (First class) (3304829833)

positive comments The service. The breakfast.
negative comments The bed. (Too small)

karl from leeds, United Kingdom;GB (Young couple) 25 February 2006

we were missold this three star guest house as a five star hotel ? we had to spend money on taxis too and from belfast and down into hollywood and back for a meal out as the tiny resteraunt could not accomodate us. this was supposed to be a treat for my wifes 40th birthday , but the accomodation was poor . (3304244496)

positive comments nothing
negative comments cleanliness , experienced staff , spend some money on updating the rooms

Provided comfortable and relaxed accommodation in quiet, pleasant area, with high standard of room, service and meals. The hotel has a charming traditional style rather than the more modern minimalist approach. (3304163573)

positive comments Convenient, quiet location; friendly staff; large, well-appointed room with lots of character; good food.

negative comments Decor not to everyone's taste, but well presented nevertheless

Charlotte from Carlton, United Kingdom;GB (Solo business traveller) 17 October 2005

The hotel was very good overall. The lounges and dining room were in very good order although the decor was somewhat fussy and chintzy but also attractive and endearing for that. If you are looking for clean contemporary lines then this is not the hotel for you. I found it very comforting. I would have preferred the lounges to be non-smoking! The whole experience was very good and the food exemplary. I took a recipe away with me! As I had not booked an evening meal I was recommended a bistro in town ( a safe ten minute stroll away) which served very nice contemporary food, albeit the service was somewhat unfriendly. However, I did receive a free glass of wine as an arrangement between the hotel and the bistro. I will happily return,on pleasure, next time. (2751125)

positive comments The breakfast menu was wonderful and the food and settings (tableware, cutlery, etc) were of a very high standard. It was good to stay in a 'country type' setting with all needs catered for. The toiletries and refreshments provided were again to a very high standard
negative comments The temperature was somewhat high and the bedroom window in my room was not to be opened, think again about that maybe?

Anonymous (Solo business traveller) 16 October 2005

would like to have had a more realistic journey time to the city airport. it may be 3 minutes sometimes, but when all the lights are red and there is heavy traffic 3 minutes is well underestimated. i would also like to have known how attractive the location is and how good the food was - one night with an early departure is too short to stay in such a spot. it warrants a stay of several nights. overall i must say the rayanne was a good experience, one to be savoured. it is convenient to the city airport, but i would recommend guests do not have to rush their breakfasts. (2851427)

positive comments the breakfast was fantastic, particularly the chilled raspberry porridge. it was personal, eg with books in the bedroom etc. it felt like you were staying with a friend
negative comments better directions to the hotel are required on the website, i didn't see a single sign for the golf club, maybe because i missed the first turn off the A2.

Susan from Warwick, United Kingdom (Mature couple) 03 September 2005

The hotel was great, the breakfasts were fantastic, the hosts very helpful and the service good. The hotel is in a very pleasant district, only 5 mins drive from Belfast City Airport, very convenient for central Belfast, either by car or by train - we didn't try buses. We didn't eat dinner there because we were meeting with friends, but if it's anything like the breakfasts it must be great. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable time. (2452923)

positive comments Good rooms, fantastic breakfast, very convenient for us - we were attending a wedding in Holywood - but also great for City Airport, and access to Belfast in general.
negative comments Personally I found the room decor a bit fussy, but that's just a matter of taste.

The guest house was recommended to me by several other colleagues. It far exceeded my expectations and was an absolutely fantastic place to stay. The staff were friendly and accomodating, my room was beautiful, the food was amazing and the location was really near the airport, which was great. It is the nicest place I have ever stayed in and in my job I spend a lot of time in hotels. It was an absolute find and I will certainly be recommending it to friends, colleagues and family. positive comments It was welcoming, clean and the rooms were fantastic.
negative comments There wasn't anything I didn't like!
