This hotel is perhaps good from monday to thursday but it should be closed on the week ends.
Caution with the breakfast (1 out of 3 of us has been very sick)
(108081465)

the hotel can be found easily; good mattress

Vibrations, very loud music till 2 a.m because the rooms are just over a dancing pub. Then, later many people just under the rooms (2 other pubs in the area),without any sound-proofing )
nausea, vomitting and diarrhoea 45 minutes after breakfast

The hotel did the job for want we wanted - friendly and helpful staff. The weekend overall in Ashby was excellent! The only reason I have put that I would not book this hotel again is because I don't believe in going to the same place twice.
(107109502)

Central location. Free entry to club next door and no need to queue. Able to take drinks to room after bar closes. Clean room.

Shower poor - not enough power and curtain very annoying. Breakfast took a long time to cook - over half an hour. Landlady promised us a free drink as the code was not working on the front door. The next day she blanked us and the drink did not materialise.

Room was adequate for an overnight stay.
(108081419)

Hotel was easy to find, centrally located in the town and close to the major roads. Room was comfortable and adequate for an overnight stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean - clean sheets, bathroom etc.

Hotel was a bit shabby and had clearly seen better days. Shower was lethal - alternating between warm and scalding hot. Hotel info said the room had a DVD but there wasn't one that we could find. Double bed was not very firm and head board was loose enough to knock against the wall whenever I moved in bed.

We were well informed about the hotel and its amenities, this information was one of the reasons that we elected to use the Queens Head. The room was small but confortable (ensuite), the breakfast menu diversified, and the pub very appealing. Location is very conveient to local & area sites and close to all Ashby shopping. We cannot think of any other information that would have been needed before booking this hotel.

Quaintness, location, comfort, and value were outstanding.

Poor availability for parking.

Room was small, uncomfortable and poky.Toilet was found behind sliding door and looked like it was made out of a cupboard.Could hear all going ons from room next door as soundproofing virtually non existent.Hotel seems to be used for social security stopovers until accommodation found somewhere.

The hotel was as exactly described in the booking page. We were prepared for the noise element! The hotel is fairly central which was ideal for us, as two of the party were travelling from the north and two from nearby Leicester. The accomodation was comfortable, the breakfast just right, with a choice. The staff were friendly and courteous. We would be inclined to re-book on our next visit sometime next year.

Kitchen smells as you arrive in lobby, and the first room we were shown to, and subsequently changed
Anonymous (Solo leisure traveller) 29 June 2007
generally it was a good stay but i would have liked it to have been a bit quieter after 1am! but i know it was a busy pub but i think with guest staying there should be a compromise..i would recommend this hotel if the guest like to stay in a lively environment.
(3305241629)

i liked the queens head hotel and the character of the placewas very nice and traditional.

the only dislike is that it was a very busy place at weekends in the local bar and the speakers with loud music was on for a long period of time during the early hours, so it kept me awake.

I feel this hotel is very good value for money and accurately described, while I could hear the music from the nightclub it wasn't so loud that I couldn't get to sleep and would be happy to book again if I am in the area again

Friendly staff good service
Anonymous (Group of adult friends) 13 June 2007
The rooms were a good size with small but adequate on-suite bathrooms, the breakfast was great with a a variety of options and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
(99695159)

The staff were great and the vibe of the whole town just brilliant. The club downstairs pumps over a weekend with lots of talent and there is a great little shoe shop on the high street. Plus it was only 10 minutes from the venue in the opposite direction to the traffic. All in all a great place to stay!!!

The music only stopped at 2am so not ideal if you are hoping to get some sleep but it made no difference to us, we slept like babies. Another draw back is that there is no parking so you have to park by the library and get up early to buy a parking ticket.

it would have been helpful to know where to park as the hotel does not have a car park.the staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel welcome as a woman travelling alone. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was also good, the room was basic but clean the room was overlooking the high street and was noisy

A nightclub is based at the rear of the hotel and operates until 2am. It was rather noisy on the street outside till about 3am

The room was tatty, cold and generally uninviting e.g. paint on the curtains! The radiator barely functioned. The corridors were also particularly unappealing and were an early warning of what to expect within the room. Breakfast was also very poor with stale weetabix and rubber-like sausage and mushrooms

Would recomend you send a representative and stay on a Sat night!!

the friendliness, and location

the fact that i could hear the man in next room snoring the whole night, the ajoining room had a vey thin wall
Anonymous (Family with older children) 02 September 2006
I had a family room i.e. double bed and single bed (as well as a single room) booked. It was clean and quaint and very english !. Staff very very friendly. Brilliant location.... in the centre of the town. I was not there on the weekend so there was no noise at all coming from the pub downstairs. Breakfast was good too.I did not have transport so this hotel was perfect for my requirements. My room overlooked the main street so if you are the type that wakes up at the slightest sound of traffic... ask for a room at the back. I would personally ask for this room again.
(3304395152)

I had no transport so location was vital..... this hotel is smack in the centre of the town. This was the primary reason I selected this hotel.

My son stayed in the single room.... this room had no ensuite facilities (but it did have a sink)so I felt it should have been a bit cheaper than it was. But otherwise all OK.
