Caistor hall is a hotel used primarily for weddings. The main areas look tired, but the room facilities were good. Breakfast was good, but around the £11 mark.
I wouldn't recommend it to independent or leisure travelers as you may be sharing the place with a wedding.
(108390664)

Reasonable rate - better rooms than the cheap alternatives.
Convenient location, lots of parking

General tired appearance.
Early checkout time - 10am with £20 per hour surcharge if you stay too long. Luckily the staff phoned the room to remind me, which is good.
Anonymous (Mature couple) 12 August 2009
Good - we were there for a wedding and all the arrangements went like clockwork.
The staff made every effort to make the day special.
(107559496)

Friendly staff, general cleanliness

Would have expected breakfast to be included - even if only continental.

Good and should we participate in the Norfolk show next year we will definately book this hotel again
(107666979)

Although we only stayed 1 night the hospitality from the staff was good the rooms were of a good clean standard and the room rate was value for money

Norfolk has some good local beers so I was dissapointed that there were no real ales on sale. I was led to believe that the Bar manager had let stocks run down.

good but not at 130 pound per night, plus having to get a taxi in to the city, and food very expensive

Absolutely fantastic! Great staff, food, facilities and rooms. There was a wedding on both evenings of our atay and this did not interfere with our stay or the level of service that was provided. Can't wait to go back!

Disappointing
(97157606)

The food was excellent, cleanliness of hotel

They had me booked on the incorrect night ended up in attic room with a shower that was not designed for anybody over 6ft. No TV remote in the room. Newspaper ordered but not delivered, apparently the wrong ones were sent but surely it was possible for the correct ones to be redelivered (??).Breakfast was good but expensive and service very slow. I would stay here again because I believe it can do so much better.
Philip from Nottingham, GB (Solo leisure traveller) 31 January 2008
One slight concern.
I wanted to leave early on Sunday, and arrived for breakfast at 07:30 (the scheduled opening time of the dining room) but there was no staff there, and I had to go find someone.
The hotel is off the beaten track, so is quite quiet, but also probably only accessible by road vehicle.
Overall, the hotel met my requirements, and exceeded my expectations.
(97381263)

The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet.
I also enjoyed the powerful shower, but some people may find it a bit too forceful.
Helen from Elmdon, GB (Young couple) 30 January 2008
This hotel has the potential of being very nice. However, there was no mention of there being renovation works within the building and as this is the first thing you see, it was very off putting. Our room was very much at the back of what appeared to be the servants quarters in an even emptier hotel. Once in the room, it was gorgeous but we were promised garden views and got the car park! We then found out the toilet seat was broken (it came off easily), and it should not have been.
The 30 acres of land were not accessible and the first thing you see when you walk into the woods is a run down abandoned tennis court. Me and my partner were looking forward to walking around the grounds but were much diappointed.
However, with all that put aside, the staff were excellent, the food of the best quality and delicious and the bedroom was fantastic.
Unless the renovation works are completed soon, and we are guaranteed the views and standards of room as mentioned on the website, we wont be going back again which is a shame because as I said, it has the potential of being a wonderful place.
(97228129)

The location of the hotel was perfect. It was quiet and away from all the chaos of the city. The rooms were gorgeous and big and all the reception rooms felt warm and welcoming.

The hotel grounds were not easily accessible to walk around and the bathrooms were not of the same quality as the room. Renovation works on entry were very off putting.

elegant hotel beautiful surrondings, friendly respectful staff. Information regarding an alternative entrance would have been helpful as the main reception is reached by quite a few stairs and not a good expierien ce with a heavy suitcase etc
(97006884)

Beautiful, elegamt surroundings, friendly helpful staff.

no lift, understanable due to the age of the property but one may like to request a room on the loweer lewvels if you have heavy suitcases etc
Marcus from Church Fenton, GB (Solo business traveller) 21 December 2007
Have stayed here before and it was appalling! second chance proved well worth it. Staff are excellent, room was very good (did pay for a upgraded room).
Hotel does require a lick of paint in places and the disposal or repair of a torn oil painting on the staicase. Do not be put of by this though, as the public rooms are traditionally furnished and reflect an air of opulence.
This hotel has improved and will soon compare with the much more
expensive hotels in the area. Will certainly stay here again.

Spacious, comfortable & clean (luxury double)

The hotel needs, at the very least, a coat of paint!
Anonymous (Group of work colleagues) 14 July 2007
Overall I would be prepared to give this hotel another chance, there were a couple of minor irritations, the noise from the air con unit outside the window, and also getting a breakfast proved more difficult than it should, this was I think due to the hotel hosting a conference in the morning and I think the staff were more concerned with the smooth running of that. When we got breakfast it was nice. When checking out we were not asked whether we had a nice stay, or wished well on our way which I thought rather rude.
(97138458)

Nice building, good beds, digital TV is nice to have

The cheaper rooms have the noise of the air conditioning units directly outside the window. If going again I would pay the extra for an upgraded room.

beautiful hotel to stay at,we had lovely weather so saw the grounds at there best.Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food very good, slight blip with breakfasts. The hotel is in need of some tlc,and some spring cleaning(very dusty shelves, with help! written on them)and a painting with a very large tear.
(99541876)

staff very friendly, food very good

lights not working in corridoor, curtains hanging off runner in room, bed linen torn.not enough imformation in room,(dial no. for reception etc). teamaking facilities not refreshed.no instuctions for tv.

I found some of the staff unhelpful ,some were content to stand around gossiping. The majority were polite and helpful, I can,t fault the accommodation, or the food, but I would suggest the staff are managed more efficiently to cover busy periods.
(99445501)

Spacious, light airy, and clean, fabulously comfy bed, good hearty breakfast.

Only one receptionist who was struggling to take phone bookings and receive guests, this wasn't her fault.Service at breakfast again a little slow , when I asked for a bottle water I was told to go to reception and get one, I obliged and found no one there.

M from Stanley, UNITED KINGDOM;GB (Solo business traveller) 23 December 2006
On arrival the check in was casual not warm. No offer of help with luggage. The room was large with a luxury feel, but too many let downs, bed side light broken, bathroom had no extractor fan just a open window. Tea was available but no coffee, asked for this to be placed in room on way out but was given it on return to take to my room! The price I paid for one night at this hotel was too high for the standard of the room and service. Better recognised hotels very close by offering better value.
(99476573)

Comfortable bed and quality soft furnishings.

Very dated bathroom, no trouser press, bedside light switches not within reach of bed. No double glazing. The wait for hot water.

The hotel is set pretty much by itself in a small hamlet and has the feel of a country hotel even though it is just on the southern outskirts of Norwich . The rooms are large enough , the beds comfortable . However the decor is dated and evidence of disrepair is evident throughout . The facilities cannot be termed modern .The food is not on the cheap side .
However the place is clean and comfortable and the staff are very good .
Clearly however the place is used by the local residents as a sort club which was a bit offputting .
(99191103)

Bed was very comfortable , and the shower was good .

Showing signs of age , bit on the tatty side , and the price of the food was out of keeping with the quality of the hotel .

I was very impressed with all aspects of my visit to your hotel. The staff could not have been more friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even when I was early for breakfast. I have already promised to bring my wife for the weekend maybe next year. It made a four day firefighting course for work so much more bearable, thankyou.

It was a pleasant hotel in large grounds and in a quiet location. The staff were very friendly and treated us as individuals and nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was excellent, including the breakfast which was cooked to order and not presented in a buffet style - a far more personal service that at many hotels part of a group.

We had a really nice stay at this hotel. When we arrived we had to move rooms twice (one room was too small for us and our children, and the second had damp and a leaking ceiling!), but the room we ended up with was great. The accommodation was good value for money. Perhaps the restaurant was a bit overpriced but it was still good, with a nice cosy atmosphere. The grounds were huge which was great for our small kids who love to run around.
(3305228927)

Our room was very spacious with a lovely big bed. The breakfast was yummy! The restaurant was also very nice and all of the staff we spoke to were very friendly, pleasant and competent.

The bathroom in our room was very old fashioned, cheap-looking (formica panelling) and in need of some serious upgrading!

The setting of the hotel was superb very relaxing and easy to get to -staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. A really relaxing evening.

The room was a little stuffy as it was fairly small and high in the building and of course the weather was very warm but overall it was well presented and comfortable. Would not have been good for anyone disabled due to lots of stairs.

The staff were very helpful, we arrived quite late in the evening (after 9)and had missed last orders for dinner, this did not prove to be a problem staff let the kitchen know and we had the most superb dinner. The location of reception is dependent on the function being held at the time. The hotel had the feel that it was geared more to functions i.e. weddings etc. This could be a problem to the guest who was after a quiet weekend, but ideal for us as we were attending a function! I was pleased the hotel had three real ales on draft, but was dismayed when half an hour into the function, all three were off. This was not rectified during the evening, Supply and Demand? However, the food including the meal in the evening (catering for 300) and the breakfast was first class.

Well appointed room with a period feel, but also modern technology (digital lcd tv + dvd)

Bathroom was very small, although adequate.
