  • Paestum (2.61 km) - The World Heritage-listed Greek temples at Paestum are a little-known jewel of Italy. The temples of Hera and Neptune, dating back to the fifth century BC, are the best-preserved Doric temples in the world and stand majestically on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Naples. After the Greeks had left, the Romans took over Paestum and there are still remains of the Roman town they built. Across the road is an excellent museum that exhibits artefacts found at the site.
