Local Attractions near Best Western Hotel Firenze

  • Roman Amphitheatre of Verona (0.84 km) -

  • Chievo football stadium (2.8 km) - Italian Serie A football team Chievo play at the Marcantonio Bentegodi stadium in Verona, which they share with Serie B side Hellas Verona. Matches are played most weekends throughout the football season at the 42,000 seater stadium and tickets are usually fairly easy to come across, depending on the opponent.

  • Verona Cathedral (1.68 km) - Verona Cathedral's red and white façade is an interesting mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. The interior contains work by Titian and of the many chapels, the Cappella Mazzanti stands out for its beauty.

  • Juliet's house (1.29 km) - Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? As you stand on the balcony of Juliet's House in Verona you can imagine Shakespeare's most famous heroine saying these words, until you discover that the real Veronese Capulet family did not actually live in this house at all. That said, it is still worth suspending your belief for. In the courtyard, the walls are covered with declarations of love and the statue of Juliet is rather worn from good luck-seeking visitors touching her breast.

  • Romeo's house (1.5 km) - Romeo's House is just a few roads from that of his lover Juliet. Despite the name though, it is not thought that this was the residence of the actual Veronese Montague family (although they are thought to have lived in the same area). Unlike Juliet’s House, you cannot visit Romeo's House.

  • Juliet's tomb (0.74 km) - To complete your Romeo and Juliet tour, visit Juliet's tomb. Legend has it that this was the final resting place of the bodies of both Romeo and Juliet after their tragic death. Next door, the excellent Fresco Museum is also worth a look, containing Medieval and Renaissance works.

  • Castelvecchio (0.76 km) - Once the home of the important Veronese Scala family, the impressive Castelvecchio (Old castle) is now a museum. Attractively located on the banks of Verona's Adige river, the museum houses a variety of sculptures, arms and paintings.

  • Verona Museum of Natural History (1.09 km) - The spectacularly located Verona Museum of Natural History is worth a look for its section on fake natural wonders alone. Unicorn horns and monsters are exhibited, along with fossils from local caves, organised into five categories: zoology, botany, palaeontology, geology and pre-history.

  • Verona Opera Festival (1.39 km) - The Verona Opera festival takes place at the unique Roman amphitheatre at the heart of Verona. It consists of open-air opera performances and is the highlight of Verona's summer calendar. Up to 22,000 spectators at a time are able to delight both in the amazing historical setting and the fantastic acoustics of the ancient monument. It is advisable to book tickets well in advance because it is so popular.

  • Arena Verona (0.84 km) -
