  • Rome Termini Station (1.06 km) - Rome's Termini Station is the main destination for rail passengers into the Eternal City and is conveniently linked to both the Metro A and B lines. Located to the east of the city centre near the arty San Lorenzo district, the station serves all the major Italian destinations. It is also a Eurostar hub, ensuring that Florence, Milan and Venice are within easy reach.

  • Scuderie del Quirinale (0.9 km) - The new museum at the Rome's Scuderie del Quirinale contains paintings from some of Italy's best Renaissance artists including Botticelli, Tintoretto and Michelangelo and even works by Da Vinci. Until 5 Jun 2005, there is also a guest exhibition of paintings taken from the 3 Guggenheim museums across the world. The view across Rome from the rear of the museum is also excellent.

  • Trevi Fountain (0.9 km) - If you want to ensure your return to Rome, throw a coin over your shoulder into the Trevi Fountain. Begun in 1732, and finished 30 years later, the Trevi Fountain is one of Rome's most famous monuments, yet despite its size, it is easy to miss, being tucked away in a small piazza, attached to a rather nondescript building.

  • Galleria Doria Pamphili (1.11 km) - The Galleria Doria Pamphili is a large collection of Renaissance and 17th century art. Among the Italian artists featured are Caravaggio, Lippi, Tintoretto, Raphael and Titian whereas there are also works by Memling and Bruegel and a selection of busts and ancient sculpture. You can also take an audio tour through the sumptuous apartments still inhabited by the present-day members of the Doria Pamphili family.

  • Palazzo Barberini (0.42 km) - Rome’s Palazzo Barberini is a beautiful building which is home to the Gallery of Ancient Art. The works housed in the elaborately frescoed rooms are mainly of Italian origin and include some masterpieces by Caravaggio, Tintoretto, Raphael and Guercino.

  • Palazzo Colonna (0.91 km) - Palazzo Colonna in Rome is a huge complex made up of two wings: the Galleria Colonna and Princess Isabel’s quarters. The Galleria is a series of lavishly decorated rooms housing works by artists such as Tintoretto, Guercino and Veronese. On the other side of the palace, Princess Isabel’s quarters are even more lavish in decoration and the Dining Room is absolutely stunning.

  • Trajan Forum (1 km) - The ruins of the Markets of Trajan, a multi-tiered Roman shopping complex, give you an idea of the sophistication of Roman life. The markets formed part of the Trajan Forum, which took over from the Roman Forum (on the other side of the road) as the main political and social centre of ancient Rome. At one end of the Trajan Forum is the huge Trajan Column, decorated with battle scenes to commemorate one of the Emperor’s victories in war in 112 AD.

  • Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome (0.48 km) - The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore is one of four main churches in Rome. Dating back to the 5th century AD, it was built on the orders of Pope Liberius who had a vision that he should build a church on the Esquiline Hill on a site that was marked out by snowfall. Hence, the church was originally called the Santa Maria della Neve (Saint Mary of the Snow) and it is also known as the Basilica Liberiana after the Pope. The church has the highest bell-tower in Rome, a huge façade and various mosaics and frescoes inside.

  • Palazzo Massimo alle Terme (0.28 km) - Rome’s Palazzo Massimo alle Terme (along with Palazzo Altemps) forms the excellent National Roman Museum. The palazzo houses a wealth of Roman and Greek statues, bronzes, coins and frescoes, but pride of place goes to the stunning mosaics taken from Roman villas. The museum also boasts the only known Roman mummy, found in a nearby tomb.

  • Teatro Eliseo (0.64 km) - During the season the Teatro Eliseo in Rome is home to a series of modern and traditional plays.
