- Castello Estense, Ferrara (2.61 km) - Ferrara's Castello Estense is a beautiful medieval castle surrounded by a moat, in the heart of the city. During the Renaissance, the castle was home to the important Este court, but now it is mainly used for office space. However, you can still get a feel for the former splendour of the castle by visiting some of the elaborate rooms, and the dungeons are also worth a look.
- Ferrara Cathedral (2.42 km) - Although Ferrara Cathedral is very impressive from the outside, this does not prepare you for the amazing interior. More like a palace than a church, chandeliers light up the stunning friezes and paintings. There is also a museum housing some bas-reliefs from the facade of the Cathedral and a Madonna by della Quercia.
- Palazzo Schifanoia (2.42 km) - The frescoes in Palazzo Schifanoia are a must see on a trip to Ferrara. The palazzo used to belong to the important Este family and in true Renaissance style, Borso, one of their sons, even features in the frescoes. Also housed in the palazzo is the Ferrara archaeological museum.
- Ferrara Teatro Comunale (2.47 km) - Ferrara's Teatro Comunale hosts a variety of performances during its prose, dance and lyrical theatre seasons. On the 2005 programme there are The Magic Flute, Don Giovanni and Steak House. The theatre also organises a children's programme at theatres throughout Ferrara.
