- The Swiss Alps (28.52 km) - Considering it sits smack in the middle of the Alps, it isn't surprising that Switzerland is one of the world's skiing meccas. Resorts in the south cater for a wide variety of skiers. Zermatt is dominated by the beautiful scenery surrounding the Matterhorn and offers 394 km of pistes, great restaurants and a cosmopolitan crowd.
