The reception service was friendly and helpful.

There was only one towel plus one piece of soap per person, but daily renewed.

The first room I was given was in the cellar, people walking by on the busy street could look straight into my window, it was not the milky type of glass ususally used in this case. As the window was directly accessable via a staircase from the street, I did not feel all too well here, as the feeling came up that anyone could have climbed across the (probably locked) fence at street level. Furthermore, the room was musty, damp and smelly, though it was quite spacy.
The second room I was given after asking for a change was extremely small, not only for the given price. Otherwise it was ok, except that there was no heating in the bathroom making a shower almost impossible (in winter).
Michael from Sandhausen, DE (Group of adult friends) 23 October 2008
Good hotel, not bad for the money. One of the few that at least offered coffee, tea, toast & ceral for breakfast included in the room price. The Indian restaurant in the hotel was very good.

While the room had a T.V. and Internet it lacked soaps and no shower gels in the bathroom. It was a case of bring your own. Also only two bath towels no hand ones when we did ask for some there was no problem getting more. They also put in tea and coffee into the room.

The staff were the most helpfull I have come across nothing was too much for them.

The room and Bathroom were not suitable for two people they were very small.

I liked the location and that the room overlooked a quiet street at the back.

The room was cramped, there was NO water pressure, no extras, poor lighting and only a continental breakfast. It was not inexpensive.

Good blackout at night and good sound insulation. Comfortable bed.

Poor water pressure in handbasin and shower. Inadequate bedding (I was cold). I was given another blanket and a kettle (so that I could make a hot water bottle) on request.

Staff was not accomodating, room had no ventilation...no air no fan.. and it was very very hot!!!!! We had to suffer a sleepless night in a room as hot as an oven. THe only good think about the hotel was it's location to the tube.

The location was great, across a tube station, lots of (fast food)restaurants, a small supermarket, and coffee places near.
The rooms were very clean, the furniture looked good both in the room and bathroom.
A small but adequate breakfast was provided (2 pieces of toast with butter and preserves, coffee/tea and orange juice).
They provide free WiFi, which works very well!

The checking in went very smoothly but checking out took more than 30 minutes!!
There were several interruptions from 3-4 other guests who had questions or were trying to check in at the same time when I was trying to settle my account.
This did not create a good impression!
I would recommend Montana hotel with some reservations.
(3304583353)

The hotel is situated in a very conveninet location, close to shops, restaurants and many sights of interest in London.
My room was clean and well appointed.

Some staff members at the reception were really helpful and very curtious.
Others, however were less helpful and almost arrogant.

Was close to tube/pubs abd restaurants

We were at the front of the hotel in the basement area, which was very noisy at night. The windows opened in a number of directions however would not fix in one place, so we were unable to leave them open as someone could have got in
Anonymous (Family with young children) 24 June 2006
Great location at what is, for London, a good price. Room generally fine, but the sink didn't drain at first. This took four calls and two visits to fix. Asked for a wake up call, but it never came. Breakfast was the whitest of toast, juice, and tea or coffee. The English breakfast (4.50) was pretty good though. None of these problems spoiled our stay, and I would return.

Location. Price.

Sink trouble. No wake-up call. Feeble breakfast.

The hotel has a good location. The lobby is alright. The lift is too slow and is used by the cleaners at times when guests also need it, which makes them to wait too long for it, sometimes. Prices lower that I have paid were advertised outside the hotel and they were not shown in he hotel Website. This was my first time at the hotel and so question 05 does not apply. However the questionnaire requires all the fields to be completed and so I had to put 1-5!

i wish i had known the bar would be closed at about 11pm, we would have liked a drink on our return from olympia. also would have like tea and coffee in the room but no room service once the restaurant closed. rooms were ok. continental breakfast was just tea and toast but that was ok too.

close to the tube to get us to the venue.

bar could stay open a little longer for paying guests. tea and coffee facilities in room would be nice.

A clean and tidy hotel with friendly staff. Good location and excellent value for it. However, tea and toast do not make a continental breakfast. Also, not impressed with the check to see whether I could pay a random amount over the cost of the stay, which triggered a security alert on my credit card.
(2642914)

Tea, toast and orange juice is not a continental breakfast.

My mother and I expected high standards, we got what we paid for, the hotel is nicely situated and public transport easily accessible, local shops mean that it can cater for all pockets, the staff were friendly and happy to please, the room was spotlessly clean, and comfortable. We shall be booking this hotel again and would happily recommend to all. Overall we had a fabulous time, Thanks Montanna

We have stayed at The Montana before, and appreciated the location with access to instant services such as ATM's across the street, lots of tourist info, and above all, access to the tube just across the street which gets you to any London destination in ten to twenty minutes. You can get to Heathrow from the Glouster station in approx. one half hour at very reasonable rates. (A little gusto is required if one has luggage to move down a set of stairs. Well worth the effort if you enjoy the feeling of saving money. We would return to The Montana again, and recommend it to our friends.

We appreciated the home away from home feeling, and the very helpful staff.

Portable air conditioners, even if the are optional and extra for guest rooms.
DAVID from ILMINSTER, United Kingdom (Solo business traveller) 24 June 2005
The main problem was the heat, the only ventilation in the room was the window, the room was directly above the restaurant with the extraction ducting about 10 feet away and very noisy.
Our meal in the restaurant was excellent as was the service.
