Hotel Victoria

I didn't think the review of the hotel was informative enough. The hotel is in a good position away from the main noise of the town, the views from the rear of the hotel of sea, sand and promenade were splendid, staff were very helpful and I will look forward to using this hotel again in future. Good position, lovely sea views and the room was first class

Just one minor point I think the milk and butter at breakfast should be put out when guests have arrived not put out from early morning allowing butter to be very soft and on a very hot day go slightly off.

I would have liked to have known the size of the room, in which case I would never have booked it for 85 pounds I would have stayed in one of the many B&B's in Lowestoft instead. Nice views

The staff were really helpful and had time for the guests. The restaurant staff were very polite and stopped and chatted to the guests, which made you feel your custom was valued. The gardens are kept immaculate and we found it very restful to sit in the sun and enjoy the surroundings. (99828980)

The room was very comfortable and a reasonable size, did not feel cramped.

There was no trouser press or iron but I'm sure that the hotel would have had an iron that I could have used.

The only thing that let the stay down was that the inclusive breakfast was quite poor. The buffet table had not been topped up and there was little choice left - even though we came down about 8.50 (Sunday). Also there were no croissants - which were listed on the breakfast buffet menu. Service was a little slow. The cooked breakfast portion was also very small - I was given a tiny poached egg, 1 very small sausage and half a grilled tomato which seemed a little inadequate. We had dinner in the hotel on Saturday evening and the food was good but again, portions were quite small (and I'm not looking for a massive plate of food!). We ordered a portin of cheese for dessert - which was excellent but again weren't given a knife or butter or plates. I think with the prices the hotel charge - I would expect a bit more initiative from staff. However, generally staff were very friendly and helpful, perhaps just a little inexperienced. The hotel was nice and I would recommend it even if I thought it was a little over-priced. I liked the display for the shower gels etc in the bathroom and thought that was a nice touch. We had a sea front view but the windows were quite dirty on the outside. I appreciate they probably have to be cleaned frequently but as you pay extra for the sea view - it would have been nice if it had been done.

The hotesl in Lowestoft are generally of a poor standard - this is the best I have stayed at. Not many complaints at all - friendly staff, facilities and room okay. I am always intrigued however why hotels skimp on shower appliances - don't need anything too fancy - just not those mixing type (99209180)

Our stay was very enjoyable particularly as the staff and other guests were so friendly. The food was good and despite a mix up with one of our orders for dinner, we liked the restaurant. Spacious and comfortable room with an excellent sea view. I had asked for a twin room but we were given a double. However, the room was so good that we decided not to ask for a change.

Did not dislike anything, but a sofa or two armchairs instead of the two chairs and a table would have been an improvement.

The hotel on arrival looked very grand and impressive the reception was tastefully decorated with lots of useful local information on local tourist attractions etc. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. The room along with the hotel was clean and looked well maintained and decorated. The bathroom was extremely large and clean. overall, the stay was good, we enjoyed sitting in the bar having a drink after dinner but felt during dinner we were being rushed by the staff so that they could tidy up to go home, the dinner arrived just as we were finishing the starter, so the starter plates were taken away whilst we were still finishing. Receptionist and Night porter very friendly and accomodating. The only thing that bothered me was the noise on this particular occasion. There was a wedding party on and my room was just above the bar and there was a lot of people coming and going along the corridor - slamming doors and swearing. It is always difficult in choosing a hotel from the internet or brochures. This hotel was more than we expected. The staff were kind and pleasant. The food was excellent. Car Parking over the weekend evening was tight - had the last space in coming back fairly early from a evening do.
